Weekend Looks: Co-ords

Hi, my name is Ariel and I’m addicted to co-ords. What are co-ords you ask? Coordinating top and bottom pieces that make you feel like you have your life together. Like really adulting-style together. I mean I can barely find two matching socks on the one day a year that I’m required to wear socks (stupid bowling alley rules, am I right?), so when I put a top and bottom on that are a match made in heaven – dare I say…soulmates?! – I pretty much feel like Beyonce level amazing. So without further ado let me introduce you to my new loves! Here are the three sets I’m currently in a committed polyamorous relationship with and have been flaunting around town:

  1. Y.A.S. Floral Embroidered Sheer Blouse and Skirt

The A-line silhouette of this two piece makes me feel like Betty Draper and the sheer top adds just the right spice and modern twist. I paired it with my new favorite heels from Aldo for a pop of a primary color and my 70’s drop earrings by Warehouse. With the button all the way up to the top I like to keep my hair loose and natural for a softer look to balance the severity of the collar.

2. Nasty Gal Tie Waist Blazer and Wide Leg Pants

This white pantsuit makes all of my I-am-woman-hear-me-roar dreams come true. I love masculine elements in my wardrobe and the crispness of this color and disco feel to the pants make me feel like John Travolta (back when he was in his prime obviously – not so much the Oscars version of him calling Idina Menzel, Adele Dazeem). I like to keep everything else about my look as minimal as possible whenever I’m embracing more androgynous pieces so I kept my  hair in a low pony with a side part and added dainty geometric lobe-hugging hoop earrings. For the shoes I didn’t want to fussy it up at all so I stuck with my trusty single strap clear heels for a barely noticeable accent.

3. Nasty Gal Crop Top and Flare Pants Set

Okay this one is giving me all the Selena vibes and makes me feel like a million bucks. Red is my absolute hands down – I’m basically still five years old – favorite color. And it is such a POWER move. I always feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin because you really have to own it when you go out in something this bold. Since I was dressing like a flamenco goddess I decided to keep my hair untamed and paired it with my thin octagon gold hoops. And boy do I love some good color blocking so I opted for my magenta lace up stilettos. Unfortunately, you can’t see them even one smidge because these are the single longest pants I own. But I knew that they were there so that’s what matters right? 😉 Those magenta heels were also the only things keeping me from tripping all over my veryyy extra bell bottoms so I pretty much owe them my life.

Well there you have it. If you happen to see me out on a Friday or Saturday night, I will be the one wearing head to toe identical pieces and probably strutting far more than is necessary because I feel like a rock star and let’s be honest, I’m just an outright show pony at heart.

xoxo Ariel & Rob
